What the Wellbeing Culture at Levi9 Is Built On

In today’s IT industry — fast-paced, innovative, and often unpredictable by nature — employee wellbeing is not a luxury; it’s a necessity. Constant change, the need for lifelong learning, and keeping up with the latest technologies require not only technical agility, but also a stable psychological foundation.

According to the 2023 “What Are Developers Driven By” report by Osiguranik, 58% of IT professionals in Serbia work fully remotely, while 89% have the option of working remotely. This can blur the line between personal and professional life, increase overtime hours, and heighten the risk of burnout.

At Levi9, we recognize these challenges, which is why employee wellbeing holds a strong strategic position. We believe investing in people is the most valuable investment — not a cost. Our employees are not just executors of tasks — they are our most important asset, partners in growth, and carriers of the ideas that make us competitive.

Wellbeing at Levi9 is more than just a word — it’s a holistic approach that covers four key dimensions, all contributing to the overall wellbeing of our people.

Psychological Wellbeing

This year, we’ve placed a special emphasis on mental health by launching a mindfulness program — a series of nine symbolic but powerful 15-minute sessions held at the end of the workday. These sessions help us manage stress, build resilience, and remain present in the moment.

We also organized psychological safety workshops for all leadership roles, based on the belief that both teams and companies perform and feel better when people can safely share their opinions, raise concerns, or disagree.

Physical Wellbeing

Through our wellbeing package, employees can choose benefits such as FitPass memberships or vouchers for sports equipment. We also provide time slots for basketball, football, and in-office yoga sessions. Two of our offices are equipped with gyms as well, making physical activity more accessible and part of the everyday routine — optional but encouraged.

In addition, all employees are covered by private health insurance, which includes an annual checkup, and we offer three sick days per year without needing to submit a doctor’s note.

We strongly believe that taking care of yourself starts with knowledge. That’s why we recently hosted representatives from the Diaverzum Association in our Novi Sad and Zrenjanin offices. They spoke about recognizing the early signs of diabetes, the differences between types, proper nutrition, and simple lifestyle changes that can make a big difference. They also provided blood sugar testing and practical advice on prevention and self-care. Naturally, the event included sugar-free sweets from the Šećernema pastry shop — proving that healthy can also be delicious.

We also marked our 20-year anniversary in the spirit of our culture — by taking care of ourselves and one another. Our Wellbeing Day, held in the Belgrade office, was dedicated to relaxation, refreshment, and a reminder of how important it is to pause and care for our health.

We kicked off the day with chair massages in collaboration with MyWellness, accompanied by essential oil inhalation and non-alcoholic cocktails. The snacks, in line with the wellbeing theme, included healthy raw energy bites. Later, we held one of our regular mindfulness sessions, and ended the day with a short yoga-in-a-chair class — a series of simple yet effective stretches that can be incorporated into the workday. The event was a success — over 40 colleagues enjoyed massages, while others working from the office joined in on additional activities.

Social & Family Wellbeing

We support work-life balance through a hybrid work model that allows employees to choose whether they work from home or the office. We also offer extra days off for major life events and various initiatives that bring work and family together, like vouchers for cinema and theater tickets or board game purchases.

“Take Your Kids to Work” days have become a tradition in our offices, featuring specially designed activities for children and learning workshops with memory and concentration experts — helping both kids and parents pick up useful tips in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.

Another event that’s become tradition is “Movement” — a day dedicated to socially responsible activities that employees join together with their families. So far, we’ve planted trees, built shelters for birds, stray animals, and bees.

Our most recent event was dedicated to family and empowering fathers. In partnership with the organization “First Time with Dad,” we explored how shared adventures, discovery, and camping experiences help strengthen parent-child bonds.

Financial Wellbeing

We know how important financial security is to overall wellbeing. That’s why we’ve organized consultations with bank representatives, giving employees a chance to ask concrete questions about personal finance, savings, and loans — no pressure, just the right information.

Because Wellbeing Isn’t a Privilege – It’s the Foundation of Sustainable Growth

Caring for employees’ mental, physical, and emotional health is not a one-time initiative for us — it’s a long-term strategy. We believe that supported and fulfilled people create the best code, the best solutions, and the best company culture.

That’s why we’ll continue to grow together — consciously, presently, and with care.
