A market in transformation
The European energy market is undergoing a fundamental shift. Rapid growth in renewable generation is creating new operational realities – including negative electricity prices during peak production periods, when supply outpaces demand across the grid.
For energy companies like Sunrock, adapting means expanding into battery storage, active energy trading, and data-driven decision making. The technology foundation to support that transformation has to be solid, scalable, and built by the right partner.
Three years of deep collaboration
Levi9 has been that partner to Sunrock since 2023. What began with architecture assessments and the design of the PowerHub integration platform has evolved into a multi-team engagement covering data engineering, the FinancialTwin initiative, energy modeling, trading module development, and battery optimization – each workstream closely aligned to Sunrock’s evolving business priorities.
This quarter’s QBR marked a meaningful moment in the relationship, bringing together Sunrock’s Director Digital, Technology and Data and Levi9’s CCO.
It was a meeting that reflected the maturity and strategic depth of what has been built – a partnership defined not by contracts, but by consistent trust, open communication, and a shared drive to move the business forward.
Technical depth as a competitive advantage
Levi9’s value in this partnership goes beyond delivery. The teams embedded within Sunrock’s product development bring not just engineering capacity, but active contributions to technical direction, platform thinking, and long-term architecture decisions. This kind of engagement – thinking alongside the client rather than simply executing requirements – is what turns a vendor relationship into a genuine technology partnership.
Building for the future: AI and agentic ways of working
In 2026, both organizations are jointly investing in the next evolution of their collaboration. The priorities are clear: raising engineering maturity and driving meaningful AI adoption across Sunrock’s teams. The goal is not AI for its own sake, but a deliberate transformation of how work gets done, using AI and agentic approaches to accelerate delivery and improve the quality of outputs across the board.
As part of this QBR, Levi9 presented four AI proof-of-concept concepts spanning distinct domains of Sunrock’s business – concrete, actionable ideas designed to show different parts of the organization what is within reach and to open the conversation about where AI can create the most impact.
AI capability building: Product Owners program
The first concrete step is already delivering results. All four of Sunrock’s Product Owners completed a tailored AI training program, individually designed around each person’s role, workflows, and starting point. Sessions covered practical M365 Copilot usage for day-to-day work, as well as hands-on Copilot Studio training – including the creation of custom AI agents built specifically for Sunrock’s operational context.
The outcomes reached beyond individual skill development. The program created a unified understanding of AI’s role and potential across the PO team – a foundation of shared knowledge that will directly influence how products are built and prioritized going forward. Participant feedback reflected both the practical impact and the shift in thinking: “At the end, it’s just a huge efficiency gain we’re doing.”
This is what the Sunrock – Levi9 partnership looks like in practice: grounded in technical expertise, oriented toward business outcomes, and built to grow.
