Practical Education Program for High School Students at Levi9

Summer break is in full swing, and many high school students are enjoying their free time doing what they love. However, the question of what they will do “when they grow up” inevitably comes back into focus sooner or later. During last year’s summer break, we launched a new practical education program for high school students – with great success. This is why the idea continues to be relevant in 2024.

During the summer months, students from the First Belgrade Gymnasium, Mathematical Gymnasium, and Computer Gymnasium have been visiting K-District. The group of 11 students is led by Levi9 mentors Iva Veljković, Pavle Lukić, and Anđela Paunović. Last year, students shared that the practical education was especially valuable because of the dedication of the mentors, the friendly atmosphere, and the opportunity to work as a team. We believe that we will achieve similarly positive results this year as well! As the interest from high schools to participate in this Levi9 program grows, we expect another group in August.

Zrenjanin office has already done its part – with great pleasure. Following the first group in December 2023, another group continued the program in January. This included seven students from the Zrenjanin Gymnasium, mentored by Milan Kojadinović, Filip Orelj, and Dušanka Lečić. They learned various things related to .NET, Testing, and some previously unfamiliar programming concepts. The students appreciated the atmosphere and the fact that the Levi9 mentors were friendly and always willing to help. The mentors made an effort to explain everything clearly and vividly while also encouraging the students to solve problems independently, according to the Zrenjanin Gymnasium students.

In April this year, we also hosted students from the “Jovan Jovanović Zmaj” Gymnasium in our Novi Sad office, including specialized IT and natural sciences departments. Since the project’s inception, we have organized six groups, focusing on different technologies such as QA, .NET, and JavaScript. The students were mentored by Levi9 employees Stefan Đorđević, Ivana Marković, Teodora Ćorković, and Milan Bajić.

“As a socially responsible company, we feel the need and responsibility to positively impact education at all levels. This is why we actively respond to the needs expressed by teachers and students, and the practical education program is designed based on their feedback. In this way, talented students gain a better understanding of what working on a real IT project means, and our mentors get great satisfaction from being able to further motivate them to pursue the path they have chosen,” says Jelena Samardžija, Talent Manager, whose team leads the organization and implementation of this program.

The plan is to organize the education program again this fall for interested students from the Zrenjanin Gymnasium and Nikola Tesla School of Electrical Engineering. Additionally, a practical education program for high school students in Novi Sad is also in preparation.
