Levi9, a software company known for its dedication to innovation and continuous employee development, introduces the initiative “Coaching for All”. This initiative represents a significant step towards creating a supportive work environment where every employee can reach their full potential.
Motivation for Initiating the Project
The decision to launch the “Coaching for All” project stems from a deep belief that continuous employee development is a key factor in achieving organizational success and sustainability, especially in today’s dynamic business environment. Levi9 recognizes that employees are its greatest asset and aims to constantly support and empower them.
Democratization of Coaching: Key Concept
Traditionally, coaching has often been reserved exclusively for senior managers, while other employees were less involved. Levi9 has recognized the importance of democratizing coaching, providing every employee with an equal opportunity for personal and professional development. This initiative is a step forward in improving business operations and reflects the organization’s values and culture.
Project Phases: Implementation and Execution
The development of the program consisted of two major phases. Initially, coaching was incorporated as a tool for acquiring “soft people skills,” and later the program took another form by providing support to employees with the potential for advancement and development within the organization in achieving goals and acquiring new skills.
First phase: Access to developing people skills was modified by introducing coaching as a tool to ensure skill development at the highest level. The skills development program occurs in three levels: basic level through internal online courses, advanced level through group experiential workshops, and coaching sessions as the highest level of development. Coaching sessions provide a framework for supporting employees in developing their potential in the chosen area, enabling them to apply what they have learned individually or in a group and make progress. Work within individual sessions can take place both in-person and online, according to individual needs, while group sessions are held exclusively in person to maximize the effects and benefits of group work.
The second phase in which we apply coaching is within the program designed for individuals with high potential for advancement and development within the organization. This form of coaching focuses on identifying and developing key competencies and skills necessary for further progress. The program spans 3 months, with about 12 sessions of individual coaching. The goal of this program is to support employees in their professional development by setting goals, identifying obstacles, and creating action plans to achieve those goals.
The implementation of the “Coaching for All” project went through several key phases:
- Identifying Needs: Within the development of people skills, we started with analyzing the needs of employees. Key areas for development were identified, and the program was structured into three levels: basic concepts, group workshops, and individual or group coaching sessions.
- Formation of Coaching Team: An internal team of trained coaches played a crucial role in guiding employees through the development process. Their expertise and dedication contributed to the success of the project.
- Launching the Initiative: Communication and promotion of the initiative within the company enabled employees to learn about the benefits of coaching and how to participate in the program.
- Execution of Coaching Sessions: After a successful launch, coaching sessions began in groups and individually. Each session provided employees with an opportunity to work on their goals with the support of the coaching team.
Measuring Results and Concrete Benefits
Throughout the project phases, Levi9 continuously collected feedback from employees. Focusing on measuring success through feedback immediately after sessions allowed for a dynamic cycle of improvement of the initiative. The concrete benefits of this initiative did not go unnoticed. The organization noticed an increase in employee satisfaction and engagement, which directly impacted performance improvement. Management also observed changes in employees’ everyday work, indicating the effectiveness of the program. For employees, coaching provided an opportunity for personal and professional development, skill enhancement, confidence building, and a better understanding of career opportunities.
What Are We Learning Through the “Coaching for All” Program?
The “Coaching for All” program is still ongoing and is one of the programs of strategic importance. We continuously gather feedback and work on improving the initiative. Our learnings so far include:
- Comprehensiveness is crucial. Recognizing all employees as a target group for whom coaching can be beneficial as a developmental tool is of paramount importance. Historically, coaching has been aimed at managers who are hierarchically positioned high, but a more comprehensive approach provides everyone, regardless of position or experience, with the opportunity to use coaching benefits as a tool for personal or professional development.
- Adaptability is important. To achieve full program efficiency, it needs to be adapted to the unique needs and preferences of employees. Flexibility in choosing formats (online courses, group workshops, individual sessions) allows for a personalized approach to skill development.
- Ongoing monitoring and revision. Feedback after each session is crucial for the continuous improvement of the program. Openness to suggestions and willingness to adjust the program to employees’ needs enables maintaining a high level of engagement and effectiveness.
- Focus on goals and progress. Focus on achieving specific goals and measurable progress. Monitoring goal achievement and progress assessment are key activities that allow employees to see the value of the program and remain motivated for further development.
- Leadership support is necessary. Active leadership support is crucial for the success of all development programs, including such a program. Our leaders are engaged in promoting and supporting the program and using it as a tool for developing their teams.
